Cooking Reflection

1.       On Friday in the double lesson Jaslyn and I cooked a chicken satay stir fry and rice. It consisted of a fresh chicken breast cut into fine strips, freshly sliced vegetables and tasty satay sauce drizzled over the top. The fresh vegetables we used were onion, carrot and celery.
2.       Our meal was extremely successful! We both contributed to the meal equally and our meal was completed in the time frame we were given. Our cleaning up was also completed effectively and in the time frame given. The meal was really tasty and we both really enjoyed the food we cooked together.
3.       Jaslyn and I really enjoyed the meal therefore we have decided to cook the same meal on camp. We have decided to cook this on camp because it was easy to prepare quick to cook and yummy to eat. The meal consists of healthy food that will be really good for Jaslyn and I on camp. The food will be a good source of energy nutrition which is always good when you’re going to be exercising for long periods of time. (kayaking)
4.       I think that the stir fry could have been improved in flavour and nutrition. We could have added to the flavour and nutrition by adding different vegetables. We could have purchased extra vegetables and still been under $10. So on camp Jaslyn and I are going to add coli flour and capsicum to our stir fry.
5.       Going into the challenge I honestly didn’t think it would be possible to make a nice tasty meal under $10. But after looking on the woollies website, I found it easily possible! I think Jaslyn and I made a great meal considering we only spent $10. We had fresh produce and vegetables and made most of our meal from scratch. We tried to avoid buying packaged items due to cost and it worked to our advantage.
6.       Another meal you could make for under $10 is a chicken parmy and corn. Dale and Adam cooked this meal on Friday in our double; the meal seemed to be a success and included fresh food.
